THE SOFTWARE
I mainly stick to two pieces of software to create my fractal art. One is Ultra Fractal, created by Frederik Slijkerman. This program offers an infinite variety of possibilities for creation, tweaking, coloring and layering a fractal image. The learning curve can be a little steep, but there are plenty of people out there willing to help a novice get a handle on the program.

The second program I use regularly is Apophysis. This is a free program that creates IFS (Iterated Function System) or 'flame' fractals. You can download the most recent version here. Don't be fooled by the fact that it is free, a great number of truly talented people are continually working to make this program better and more responsive to the fractal community's needs. Whether by upgrading the source code or creating incredible tutorials, these wonderful artists continue to challenge us to create new and amazing works of art.

The third program I use is for creating 3D graphics, my new program of choice, is DAZ Studio. This program is available, for free, from DAZ 3D. There are some 3D models that come with it so you can get started working in 3D space right away. This program incorporates everything you need to get started and the DAZ 3D Forums and the 3D artist community at large, can help with almost any question. With these programs and the help and support of a wonderful online community of digital artists, I find myself learning and stretching my abilities every time I open the program. I hope you like what you see on my site and I hope that, at least a few of you, will be tempted to see if digital art can help you express the wonders of your own artistic vision.
